This week's quiz is a
logical problem.
Happy days are here again for five stray cats (each of whom is
a different color) living in the residential area of Oro Valley,
since each has been adopted by two different families, each of
whom is providing meals including an odd bowl of cream! No family
(including the Frazers) has adopted more than one cat. Each cat
(Augustus, Gilgamesh, Jocasta, and Napoleon) has been given a
different name by each of his or her new families, neither of
whom can figure out why their pet is becoming so pudgy! From the
information provided, can you determine each cat's coloring
(black, calico, cream, orange, or tabby), as well as the name (no
two cats were given the same new name) each cat has been given by
his or her adopted families?
- Four of the cats (none of whom is known as either Morris
or Pepper) are the ones adopted by the Churchills (whom
another family calls Boots), the one adopted by the
Hauers (whom another family call Rolly), the one adopted
by the Jiangs (whom another family calls Sheeba), and the
one adopted by both the Alvarez and the Duvall family.
- Cleopatra is neither tabby (whom one family calls Tigger)
nor the calico (who was adopted by the Hauers). The cat
known as Ginger because of his or her orange coat was not
adopted either by the Duvall or the Jiangs. The cat known
as Fluffy is cream-colored.
- One cat was christened Lucky, but not by the Duvalls.
Neither Jacosta (who does not go by the name Rolly) nor
Napoleon is the tabby.
- The cat who is known as fluffy by one family (who isn't
Cleopatra) was given a different name by the Ippotilo
family. Gilgamesh (who isn't cream-colored) was adopted
by the Behmers.
- The Eisners do not call their cat Pepper. The Alvarezes
do not call their cat Ginger. The cat adopted Guilianis
is known as Coco as another family.
