Weekly Quiz       Open Mohan's quiz archive

This week's quiz is a logical problem.

Every month, Sheila looks forward to receiving the latest issue of 'The Gazette' in which the new thriller Danger at my side, featuring intrepid hero Guy Draker, is being serialized. This story is unique in that each instalment is being written by a different thriller writer. Each of the authors of the first five instalments (numbered 1 thru 5) is known for a different thriller sub-genre (one specializes in technothrillers), and each has left Guy Draker in a different, very tight situation for the next person to resolve. From the information provided, determine the dilemma in which Guy finds himself at the end of each chapter (in one, he has been locked in a dungeon by the mysterious villain), as well as the author of each chapter and that author's preferred sub-genre.

1. The first three chapters are the one written by Gloria Terhorst, the one penned by the author of legal thrillers, and the one in which Guy finds himself trapped in a burning house, in some order.

2. Cyril Braddock's chapter number is exactly two lower than that penned by the cyberpunk author.

3. Jess Magnani's chapter immediately preceds that of Garland O'Casey (who is not the writer of psychological thrillers).

4. The writer of hard-boiled thrillers is neither the one who left Guy cornered by the bad guys on top of the Eiffel Tower (who is not Cyril Braddock or Gloria Terhorst) nor the one who left Guy stuck with the bill at a fancy restaurant.

5. The last three chapters are the one penned by Fenwick Knickerbocker (who is not the cyberpunk author), the one by the author of psychological thrillers, and the one that ends with Guy framed for murder, in some order.
